The Whales come from the Antartic, to the Ecuatorian waters traveling around 5000 miles.
Salinas has and advantage that is the whale watching is done so close to the coast. Normally Whale watching is done as close as a mile or two from the coast.
The Humpbach whales are fifth biggest mammal on earth. The scietific name is Megaptera Novaeangliae meaning The biggest pectoral finns of New England.
The name humpback comes from probably from the first whale hunters who saw the hump of the whale before diving and the tail giving it the extra push to dive
Ecuador has whales from May to November, but the best months are from july to September, because they are the closest to the coast of Salinas.
The migration of the Humpback whales in and around Salinas count in the thousands during the period.
